I have a C200K AVANTGARDE SE (2003) UK which I am led to believe has issue with ABS.

A few weeks ago when braking the car would shudder, got discs and pads changed thinking the discs may have been warped but still same problem. Took it to a local halfords motor centre and after a quick check they told me its the ABS and that I would need to get it repaired from dealer.

Is this a common issue? Theres no warning lights, had B service done in feb, can this be reapired from an indy or is it something for main dealer?

It sounds like a bad wheel sensor. A shop with SDS can pull diagnostic codes and see what is causing the problem.

I will goto a few garages and see if they can pull a fault code, the only other problem I have the handbrake cable is crap and no longer clicks is there a UK part number for this or are they easily available from places like eurocarparts or pakers etc.

you mean the foot-operated parking brake? I believe you can fix it be replacing the part called the "detent". It's part number A2034201684, but verify that for your car and that it's the problem.

Yes the foot operated parking brake is knackered too but main problem is the actual brakes.
