Hi There

I am looking to buy a 1983 model 380SEC and would like to know if the 83 model come out with ABS brakes? I would also like to know if cream was a popular color and what colors was common.

Thanks and Regards

ABS was an option on the first series W126 (<86). But there's a huge possibility that whatever 380SEC you'll find, chances are it will have ABS.

Was Cream a popular color?

Are you talking about exterior or interior?

I don't think the SEC was available in the North American markets with Cream as the exterior color. Maybe they had more choice of colors in the European markets?

Cream interiors are not that common, especially not on the early models, but I would consider it a desirable feature and some of the members here (Englevakten..) have actually redone their cars with cream interiors.

Oh, yes, What colors were popular?

I think I have seen a lot of cars in these, exterior, colors:
- Black (plain, clear coat, etc.)
- Blue (mid-blue, dark blue, plain, clear coat, etc.)
- White
- Gray (dark)
- Silver

I have seen quite a few in these colors:
- Burgundy
- Champagne
- Green (dark, metallic)
- Red

I have seen a few in:
- Yellow (light - early model, awful[xx(])
- Gold

Now, this is for the SEC coupe. The sedans have a wider color selection.

The exact version of the color depends on the model year. For instance, there must have been at least 5 versions of black.

For the interiors, black and gray are by far the most common (again, SECs), but you can also find burgundy, blue and cream. Again, color selection is probably greater in Europe where they also had the choice of cloth and alcantara seats.

Hope this helps.
