Never lived up to Mercedes standards I bet. To me the CL is all about the ABC. That's what makes it an amazing car.

If I wanted a non active suspension car that handles? I would buy a 911.

idk about you guys but my 215 handles great on conventional coil overs. funny how top of the line new mercedes come with coilovers and not the abc system, seems mercedes figured out they couldn't perfect the system and gave up

WRONG AGAIN, as usual travis.

The 2013 CL65 AMG comes with ABC suspension

The 2013 CL63 AMG comes with ABC suspension

The 2013 S65 AMG comes with ABC suspension

The 2013 S63 AMG comes with ABC suspension

The 2013 SL65 AMG comes with ABC suspension

The 2013 SL63 AMG comes with ABC suspension
---------------------------------------------------------

These are the luxury and grand touring cars that AMG Mercedes produces, and as such, they are fitted with the best suspension system AMG Mercedes produces.

The pure sports cars with the absolute lowest weights come with the traditional fixed suspension, but much more advanced then a $400 coilover that you have fitted.

Mercedes adaptive sports suspension.

And when you first removed your ABC system and replaced it with a conventional set up this is what you had to say:

conversion update:

you never really realize how heavy this car is until you take off the active suspension. the car tilts in turns and during accel/braking like any other car over 4000 pounds but you dont know it with the abc.

 Yes i remember reading about that handling issue posted also
Strutmaster seemed to make sure i knew this when i questioned them about the effectiveness of the coil overs and told me i would have to "fab" something up
Unless the car is super stiff it will have body roll-i have a drag car with coil overs
but love my CL55 AMG ABC system at any cost
Thanks for the info

You're very welcome amgcl55!

i see you're following me around elsewhere now lol. the abc system has body roll, so do the coilovers. it's more noticeable with the coilovers but the coilovers still perform excellently in not only straight driving but cornering.

i was solely referring to the sls. nothing new that you would try to misconstrue what i said. you say you like the abc for the sportiness, then why aren't we discussing the top tier of mercedes sports cars? doesn't really line up logically but that's nothing new coming from you lol. obviously the system is superior to the abc in terms of handling and reliability or the nicest sports car mercedes makes would have them wouldn't it?

Here all the suspension options for the new SL

Mercedes-Benz Ireland - Drive system & chassis - Suspension

Lots of options, 4 to choose from (some are only available for certain models), they even have an elecrtro something strut(Adaptive damping ), kinda like Cadillac
Oh that's cool, they get alot of choices over in Ireland!
Looks like half of them are ABC systems, and the other half are the suspension I posted above. I was basing my research off of the Mercedes USA website where all of the cars I listed have spec sheets like this:

Alot of the time other countries, especially in Europe get all the fun options and even cars that we don't get it. I'm sure if you did a special order or to European delivery and then had it sent here you can get whatever option you want it if it's available for the build.

The ABC is now Optional on the "top of the line" Mercedes. The Mercs with coil overs have sway bars too.

The only top of the line MB that does not have the ABC is the SLS,SLR and the SL65 Black Series of course to save the weight. All the S600, S65, S63, CL65,CL600, CL55,CL63, SL600, SL55,SL63, SL65 all come with ABC. For the others such as the S500 or S550 the ABC is optional.

I beg to differ. Go price a new CL on their website. Air-matic is standard. The ABC is optional.

Helps to do your homework.

What CL are you referring to? The CL550 it is optional but the 63,65 and 600 it's not unless they changed it now and if so I was not aware. But feel free to show me where I can find a 600,63 or65 without ABC as I would love to have a CL65 without ABC.

Ah a semantics issue. I consider the CL class to be the top of the line. Just as MB advertises. The ABC was standard on older base CLs. That is no longer the case.

All the cars you mention above the base CL are options and optional. :D

Air Matic is now standard on the base "top of the line" Mercedes.

cl's were considered top of the line, maybe ten years ago....there's more distinguished models coming from the star line

Except this: :D

When Mercedes stops referring to the CL as it's flagship, I will stop calling it their top of the line.

One thing is for sure. The 215 was a far better built car. And about 700lbs lighter than the conventional S based CL today. Fare more exotic and unique in it's materials.

I do consider the CL top of the line. However the 63/65 AMG are the top of the top. Like the cherry on a Sunday if you will. All of them coming with ABC. I have never in my life seen a 65 or 63 with airmatic. I am not talking about the V8 cars like a 500 or a 550. I am talking 63/65 model. I just have never seen it anywheres.

I called my people over at MBUSA in New Jersey and they said that the CL class W216 for 2013(2014 has not been released) that the CL550 has airmatic. The CL600/63/65 have ABC and no airmatic is available for those 3 models.

Please show me where I stated that? NEVER SAID IT!

You are tripping dude. Case is closed in my book.

Some of you guys just can't accept that you are wrong.

My statement was very clear. ABC IS AN OPTION ON base NEW "Top of the line Mercedes" CL500s what part of that don't you get?

When MB changes it's build your own website. That may change. But your buddies opinion is worthless here. Mercedes website speaks for itself.

YOU ARE WRONG FACE IT!
