I have a '08 C300 sport and ran about 38500.
A2 service includes
"Steering system / "All" electrical (engine & interior) / Wiper washer system / Tire condition & measurements (incl. spare) / Suspension components & function / Drive train / Brakes-includes measurement of pad & rotor wear.
INCLUDES: Lubrication, Oil & filter change (synthetic oil), replace windshield wipers, tire rotation (where applicable), automatic transmission service, and coolant system flush. 4-Matics include a transfer case flush.
Prices starting at $799.90"
Price starting at about $800 thats a lot.
So, Should I just get an oil and filter change and not go for the sevice?
and reset the 'service A' light to go away.
What do you guys think?
thanx.

I just went and pulled my reciept for my A2 service which I had done at 38,852 miles. It reads as follow:
Flexible A Service
Perform synthetic oil and filter change. Check for fluid leakage. Check tele aid operation. check horn. lighting and wiper operation. check headlamp and windshield washer operation. Check front and read brake pad linings. check tires for damage and condition. check tire inflation pressure. check condition of belts and hoses. check fluid levels and correct as needed. Correct pressure in spare tire. check battery condition iwth midtronics tester. check for additional services due. add bg supercharge fuel additive. add bg moa oil additive reset serivce reminder.

112A A service
Solvent
MOA oil additive
Gas conditioner
TS filter in
Seal Ring, VL
Mobil 1 form.

Total job labor and parts $249.95
that also included a loaner for the day and a trunk lid campaign.
Advised me of a 353.00 Transmission service.
So 800 Bucks for an A service seems a bit steep.

Mine is coming up too in about 1k. but is it worth the high price? Preventative maintenace is key to sustaining and maintaining your vehicle, but it just seems like all these "services" are a bunch of "checks".

$249 is reasonable but $800 seems high.

Over here in Tysons Corner, VA- they quoted me $299 w/out tax so.. $330ish. The service lady said it is basically a minor physical for your car with a whole bunch of checks. whatever.

Recently I had service 39K service on my rwd '08 C300. Essentially it was A service plus tranny fluid/filter, brake fluid change. Dealer quoted $800, my preferred independent Mercedes shop quoted $550 (30% less).

Mine cost about $450 at my dealer. I wasn't expecting it when I drove in for an oil change (I change mine at 5k intervals). The speedometer message display that warned me when my first Service 'B' was approaching didn't tell me about this one so I went in expecting just the usual charge for an oil change and the service agent came back to me and told me about the other stuff. No sense in not getting it done when it's called for on a car like this so I told them to go ahead.

The point being that I guess you can't always depend on the message display to warn you about these things in advance, you have to pay attention to your service book.

Sounds like "B" service. At what mileage were you at?
