Happened to my friend. Some weeks back we had a severe hurricane-like storm. High speed winds brought down NUMEROUS trees all over the DC/Maryland/Virginia area.

buddy of mine had fully restored an '82 240TD euro wagon. The european Hella lamps i took off from my car (and replaced) were on this car. It was literally ready to sell for a good profit.

all that work down the bloody drain.

Aah, man - that's really terrible :( .

Can't really tell how the tree landed on the car, but it has to be said that these cars had (and probably still have) very sound structural strength. Not that it helps one bit in this case, unfortunately.

total loss.....Friday I will go and help to part out some of the parts....

barely a week prior, it had come from the paint shop....interior and trim was put back together

it was a brand spanking new car....now its destroyed

if it were a plastic new Corolla or Chevy Malibu --- it wouldnt even be recognizable. It took 5 days to clear the tree off the driveway

at least SOME good news: motor, tranny 100% intact

This is sad, sorry for your loss. :(

On the other hand, I'm not surprised at how strong the car held up. I've seen a 280E under a tree that fell, it was in a similar state except the tree was smaller so the roof didn't cave in as much.

Sorry for your loss. Just remember, it' could have been worse, no loss of life.
I just survived a major house fire on Mothers Day. Mother nature is bigger than all of us.

I did drive through that storm in Columbus, Ohio. Flipped over 3 semi trucks. Too bad I missed the free samples from the Coors Lite truck!

Hang in there,
Dave
