for those of you who know your "C" class.

OK, Who can tell what is the black plastic on top of the battery? and explain what the purpose of it?

Do you mean the battery cover.

It also functions at a rain gutter and the cover for the HVAC dust filter.

OIC, well do you think...

that is the good place for the Dust filter?, IS it the same as inside cabin filter? If it does, What happen when battry releasing acid fume? Meaning it going straight to the cabin, right?. Just my opinion and observation.

I haven't looked, but I think it is a sealed battery. Even if it isn't, what generally ...

I haven't looked, but I think it is a sealed battery. Even if it isn't, what generally escapes from the the battery is gaseous hydrogen. In the low concentraions involved, it is harmless.

battery cover

it indeed is the battery cover/HVAC dust filter cover.look carefully and there is a vent tube for the battery gas to excape.
