If they say lift pump, read "injection pump and/or low compression"
Bring one along when you go look at the car, it takes about 15 minutes to install one if he'll let you do it.
I looked at at least 7 300D's before I bought my 78, one guy claimed his just needed glow plugs and it turns out the IP was pumping at about 8psi and the compression on 3 cylinders was below 200psi...
Another claimed the lift pump was bad so it wouldn't start and that car had a broken timing chain...
Some people are just dicks and will do whatever they feel is necessary to sell a car or anything else for that matter. BUYER BEWARE :thumbsup:
Fixing a broken car in front of the seller right after you bought it is the most satisfying thing you can do! Especially when they tell you "exactly" what's wrong with it and they're totally clueless.
