Sounds to me it is likely that there is a leak from either the cold start valve or an injector or 'two' that is dribbling/dripping downwards into the throttle area. **True only if the the air flow sensor plate was undisturbed prior to your discovery.**
"Also, as I depressed the airflow meter vane, more fuel seemed to roll down to the throttle body plate." I would consider this a normal condition for this reason:
As the airflow sensor plate is pushed down any fuel pressure left in the system (rest pressure for instance) will activate the fuel injectors until this fuel pressure drops below the opening pressure of the injectors.
