Here is the best equipped 240D (in my opinion):

1. MB tex interior
2. manual windows
3. manual sunroof
4. manual A/C controls
5. 4 speed manual transmission
6. manual tune Becker radio

I had a chance to buy just such a car about 4 years ago, but passed on it because the mileage was a bit high - about 265k. However, the car was in very good condition, original paint, very little rust around one rear wheel well (typical area) and near mint palomino MB Tex interior. The car drove exceptionally when I test drove it. I must say that I never drove a car with smoother shifting manual transmission in my life. And the price was only $ 2 k even. :(

It's not that easy to find this particular combination in good shape. People tend to hold on to these.

5 outta 6 here. You can have your old Becker radio in favor of -- well just about anything.

I agree with all of your points, except point six. Why an old Becker? Sometimes newer technologies are better than the old ones, especially when it comes to ICE equipment!

I've never looked back at dumping the old Becker Monza  !

I bought it with a new Sony radio and installed an almost period Nakimichi (1988) NIB. It would be a period upgrade to the German radios.

I like the power sunroof (try to keep it clean). Otherwide as stated.

I would add white paint (most durable and most practical color to add to the overall theme of the car) and palamino interior because it just looks better !

Also, new Bosch Duraterm glow plugs & relay, new Bosch hand primer pump and stainless steel braid over teflon brake lines are all later improvements.

Best Hopes for the Most Durable and Most Reliable car ever built !

I had two two of those which almost fit the criteria.

With the remaining 240D, the exceptions are no sunroof and a CD player.
