Why sad? They make many different types of trucks in Europe. I don't think the US needs a Mercedes pickup, though the Sprinter is a pretty handy commercial vehicle.

I absolutly agree! I think it's sad because Mercedes Benz has some of the toughest, extremely durable and capable vehicles (the Unimog, the W463 G500, etc.) that they are willing to neglect, and start from scratch.

They could easily modify any of these fine vehicles, but they're not going to.

Mercedes Benz with a flat pickup truck based on the X164 (new G-class model) seems bizarre and something of a head scratcher. Honestly though, I am a bit curious as to what it will be like.

Yes, we realize that photo has been photoshopped. We also realize that Mercedes Benz is really developing a full size pickup based on the X164 (the new G-class) chassis.
