I think a member has a green/green diesel here.
Hey sure post some. It's not something I have ever seen and since the car needs to be repainted I've been thinking about something other than white.w108 - 2/22/2005 12:23 AM
Yeah - my '81 SD is green metallic on green velour.
What do you want to know? It's actually a handsome and unique combination. Just let me know if you want me to post some pics of her.

Actually, we've just had a thread concerning Thistle green. The color is very popular on 126's in Europe, actually all green shades are common in Europe. The strange thing to me is, that I saw so many green AMG cars being made at the factory, but I've never seen one here in the U.S. Maybe by now, secondary owners have had them repainted.
Thanks, do you have a side view? I'd love to see one.H-TownBenzoboy - 2/23/2005 6:28 PM
Our 300SD is green on green as well. #881 Thistle green, or "green thistle" or "silberdistel" exterior, #236 green leather interior. I don't have pics, the interior is not in the best of condition at the present time, and the car is 12 miles away at the body shop for a repaint. The interior work will be done at a later date. So, I'll post some pics of the interior after it gets redone.

BTW- white500se, here's a pic of a W126 with #881 paint on it.

Thanks for the input. However the white is not the original, the green is so I'd be bringing it back to that. Probably still need to be stripped but it's going to need a good sanding anyway, might be enough to expose the green. As for cost my brother will be doing a lot of it so I'll get some break thereMBL87560SEC - 2/23/2005 11:55 AM

w108's 300SD is a much darker shade.
Earlier stated "...seen and since the car needs to be repainted I've been thinking about something other than white." got me thinking. See what you think below.
Unless you plan on stripping your car to the bare metal, I'd really think twice regarding a drastic color change. The factory paintwork, by and large, is much more durable than a re-spray. (I know someone will disagree with that line of reasoning.) Anyway, from what I've seen when a car gets a stone bruise on the nose or abrasion behind the tires (for instance) invariably the base color shows through. Picture white chips........ Then what to do about under the hood, door frames, etc.
I really don't mean to rain on anyone's parade at all - especially yours John, in that you intend to get your machine sparkling again. I just think if a major change in color value (light to dark) is done, there will follow a probability of difficulties with the cosmetics after a fairly short time and a significant outlay from your wallet.
My 3 cents, MBL
Here's a side view of a 500SEL, in Germany I think.white500se - 2/23/2005 9:35 PM
