Just a little note to the owners of a 1986 300e. Today I had my car tested at the emission control center here in Chicago. Needless to say the tester, stated my car passed with flying colors. I only have 118k on my car, he said my car runs like that of car 1/3 its age. Much better then many of the newer automobiles he tests. I pretty proud of the fact that through the advice I received from this forum to bring it up to this state. I'm hopeful that " My Gretchen" will be out on he road for another 20 years.

be warned that these cars "fit the profile" of a high emmitter here in cali.

theyll pass, but give them the old italian tuneup first.
