Am still chasing a noise (pulley I think) and am up to having ordered new water pump. Should arrive Friday, I hope. If I spin (free-wheel) the A/C pulley there is a whiring noise coming from it. Can I assume bearing? If so, Can it be replaced on my model? W163154 112942 I read somewhere if I hold pulley with oil filter strap and loosen hex bolt in anti-clockwise direction, I am able to get pulley off. Has anybody done this? Thanks in advance.

If it is the pulley (000-234-14-12) you need, for the price of it you might as well replace the whole compressor with a rebuilt.

Aside from the AC, accessory drive noise comes from various places. Most over looked is the drive belt it self. have you replaced it? After that the tensioner pulley, idle pulley, and yes water pump.

To sum up never heard of anyone replacing the AC pulley, Folks have probably done so, just not too common an issue.

So far have new belt, new tensioner and pulley and new power steering pump and reservoir.
