also some1 said in this forum when he was trying to fix his aux fans he said make sure the ac compressor clutch works. When i turn on my AC the aux fans should turn on right? but they don't. More evidence that the sensor or new air compressor may be needed.
A/C does not work, please help
Hi, my cars (mercedes e320 cdi year 2000 w210) AC has stopped working, it only blows out coldish/warm air.
Basically the the a/c compressor does not turn on anymore (does this mean i have to add r134a rifigarant??) if so where is the port where i have to add it??
Also i was just wondering wherther the air con compressor is linked to the aux fans. Becasue they don't turn on anymore for ac (aux fans do turn on for about 3 seconds when egnition is turned on to start the car.)

The A/C has fail safes to protect the compressor. It is not the other way around, the compressor only works if all the parameters (sensors, relays) allow the compressor to run. Now the fact that you still have a charge in the system to me rules out any problem with your compressor. I believe your problem is electrical and this must be fixed before you can even test the compressor. Now the fans are controlled by pressure / temperature and do not necessarily come on when the A/C is switched on but do come on when the Temp/pressure requires them to.also some1 said in this forum when he was trying to fix his aux fans he said make sure the ac compressor clutch works. The first thing you need to do is find out why your compressor clutch is not getting electricity check wires, fuses, relays, sensors. I have a link that would help you but it is on my other computer I'll send you the link tonight.

The links have some good information, again you need to determine if the compressor is getting electrical power, if not then fuse (under hood #7 20amp & #8 7.5amp), relay and sensors need to be checked.
Here in the US the dealers will charge $150-$200 for diagnostic, you may want to find an independent shop that has Mercedes experience (specialize in MB).

Yeah have already checked all the fuses they all seem fine. but relay and sensors need to be checked.
I know of one MB specialist "mercs only" but they rip people off.
I Will see today if the compressor is getting power or will hook it up to an external powersource and see if it turns if that's possible.
