Hello all,

I ve got a 1998 C280 with a A/C problem.
I can't get the compressor to cycle before any freon checks etc can be analysed.
In short the A/C High Low side hoses will not be able to show any pressures.
How do I get the compressor "jumped" to show the High/Low pressures.

Thanks
Lee

You can check the pressure with the engine and system off. If you have no pressure, than it's leaking out as you put it in.

What is the low side pressure? With the system off the low and high side will be the same.

A/C compressor engage to check pressures

My bad on last question the way I wrote it, thanks marvinstockman for your reply.

There is Freon in the system. "When" a compressor (any compressor Freon pump) runs both hi and low sides the gauges will show what the systems pressures are. I need to see what the pressures are, don't want to over or under charge the systems..

In short system charged (don’t know pressures) need the compressor to come on to check pressures to check various components of the A/C system.

Any help
Thanks

If your 'EC' light is lit, hold it in for about 20 seconds until it goes off. Then, and if you have enough freon, the compressor will come on.
