My 99 SL600 stands too high it has ADSII I know it can be lowered with the SDS but I'd like to do it with a mechanical adjustment. Can some one tell if this is possible and how to do it. I think a couple links can be adjusted either lengthened or shortened

An R230 can be raised or lowered by replacing fixed level sensor links with adjustable ones, John, and in theory it could be done by bending the bracket to which a level sensor is attached. Surely the same is true with the R129, I think.

I think I saw the links on my 99 are two piece slider type with a bolt keeping them together. I have made some links for a CL but they were fixed links.

There are linkages on the ride height sensors that have the capability of being lengthened or shortened. The front ride height sensor is near the ads block at the passenger side front behind the hub/ads valve., rear is passenger side rear. Just be cautious, as a small adjustment makes a fairly significant change, and when you loosen the clamp nut it is easy to lose the initial position. The front and rear work opposite, irrc, shortening the front lowers the front and shortening the rear raises the rear, or vice versa. Also, if you move it too much without adjusting the ads setpoint in sds you'll start to throw an error light.

Go into das, at the first menu select ads, and from there you scroll until you you find the page that allows you to set ride height. You do it with the car running, and first adjust the front up/down from the computer, then the rear, and it then allows you to save. The linkages are adjustable because the height sensors are simple potentiometers, and it is possible for you to want a height that then becomes outside of the voltage range and it won't set. You can see the actual voltage in sds, and the info page associated will tell you what the permitted range is (forget off the top of my head now-but think its something like 2-3 volts).

Can we also set height for each side?? My left is higher than the right. This will really help me.
I have seen few more 1999 -2000 SL 600's with a similar problem.
No one has a definite answer.

Thanks!
I have never changed anything from the factory apart from the link rod that connects the height adjustment near the front Right wheel on a RHD car.

I really want to lower my left side.. specially the front left..it looks hideous.
No. There is one height sensor per axle. There is no way to adjust height from side to side. This is most likely an issue with a fatigued spring or pad.

The shims only change the height by the difference in mm of the shim. Fatigued springs can lead to sag.
