Hey guys, I got a buddy who owns a 98 ML320. When I was driving with him a couple of days ago, I noticed that the front of the vehicle grabs or jerks when he turns a corner left or right. I looked here in the forum under search/W163. I found none about this topic.

Have you experienced this wheel grabbing while turning a corner at 5-10mph? What is the solution? Thanks.

Have you eliminated the obvious? Clearance in the wheel wells? Correct length for lug bolts (non OEM wheels?)

Can you explain exactly what you mean by "grabbing"?

This was considered normal in the 98's as they had a 50/50 power split between the front and rear wheels. It appears when making a very sharp turn at very slow speeds. Later ML's do not suffer from this as MB slightly changed the power split to eliminate it. It is my belief that eventually this will damage the transfer case. Only option is to install a new, later transfer case.
