Need your help!

Going uphill or when I floor the gas the check engine light flashes and then stays on - almost sounds like the rev limiter is coming on & cutting power.

The engine then shakes/shudders. This stops if I restart but the CEL stays on.

After reading many post I thought it was the MAF sensor so I changed it with the OEM part, disconnected the -ve of the battery. Light comes back on under same conditions. Tried disconnecting the MAF sensor same problem.

Hope someone can help as I don't have any equipment to read the code.

I do not have Pep Boys or Autozone close by - 2+ hours drive away.

The dealer cannot take it in for a week & the OBD11 codes show engine misfire but this code only comes up after the CEL comes on.

After the codes are cleared the engine runs good until it is under "heavier" load, then the CEL comes on & engine misfire codes come up.

Have 133K Kms, new plugs, wires - all OEM parts.

Is the misfire code P0300?

What I can tell you is it's not the plugs, wires or coils. These misfires are all on the same bank, bank 1 which is the passenger's side. It COULD be a lazy O2 sensor or a vacuum leak on that side, usually at the intake manifold gasket.

The proper way to dianose the problem is to hook up a scanner and go to the freeze frame section and it will show you what the readings were at the time of codes being set. Again, don't start replacing parts randomly without knowing the cause as it can get very expensive.

pcy is right!!!

The cat conv has gone. At this point I am not sure if the MAF sensor was bad but I have changed it. The MAF, plugs & wires was ~$600, the cat (aftermarket) was $850 + labour (probably $400 for the CAT)

What else should I be looking for or expecting to fail with 130K kms on the vehicle?
