Hello

I´m going to buy a new key for my 98 E230
Here in Norway, the dealer takes about 500$ for it.

So my question is, Can i buy a key from US and have it programmed here at the dealer? so it will work on my car?

And what kind of key can i use? I heard some one said that i can buy a newer key, with chrome and panic button? From W220 or W221?

Hope someone please can help me.

Hmmm must admitt I have seen some differences in prices between EU countries, but I never saw 500 USD. Here in Netherlands they are well above 250 Euro, but in Germany an ordinary key is 160 Euro and a "chromated" one will cost you 196 Euro.
The disadvantage is that you need to visit them 2 times, one for ordering and the second visit for programming..which is by the way also included in the price in Germany...here in NL you pay around 50 Euro for this.

Cheers,
Ingmar

i think that netherlands' SteveK is the guy to answer this question. accor-
ding to my notes, Euro v North American Smartkeys use different frequencies.
as such, I'm not sure how successful you would be in getting a key programmed
in the USA to function properly for you. the vehicle dbase they reference
might not extend to cover codes for your car. just a wild guess on my part
just so you're clear about my info.
