I've been searching for a Benz for a short while and found a 98 E Class TD one owner with 66,000 miles on it. I saw the car report on it and all is verified. The car had been painted four years prior. I asked about rust, he said it was fixed at time of painting. I took an act of faith and agreed to purchase this car for $9,250.00. I am about to send a deposit. Does anyone have any comments or thoughts about this car. I guess I should have asked first but it seems like such a nice car for the money, I wanted to snatch it up. The only thing that frightens me is the rust thing. I mean the guy was straight forward.

Wrong forum...but that is a huge leap of faith. No prepurchase inspection? You could have just purchased yourself an awesome car....or a money pit.

It's not a good idea to buy a car without a PPI and especially if you haven't seen it in person.

If you can't do any work yourself be ready to pay. MB shops are not cheap.
