I have spent hours at the dealership and online, what I am looking for are the 2 clips that hold the recirculation filter panel onto the firewall. when you undo the 2 screw type clips I assume the filter panel should pivot down.

does anyone have any idea,
what these clips look like
part number

anywhere else to look?

I know what they look like because i have recently removed and cleaned the Pollen filter.....it appears they get broken regular because of their poor design/fitment.

One of mine is broken and the other hinge/clip is missing altogether!

Havn't a clue on part number but my advice would be to source a breakers yard and explain to them the item you require.

Good luck.

Do not know about any clips, but last time I looked, mine is
being held by 2 integral plastic hooks that extend upwards from the recirculation
panel. Yes, if not careful, they seems so break rather easily.

Go to this page;
http://www.auto-parts.spb.ru/cat/cats/m.mycat?Form

and look in the;
83 HEATING AND VENTILATION
then
045 HEATER CASE WITH BLOWER

and you'll find the part number for part 323;
A 140 830 09 13
which then is the complete panel, for a LHD car, which I think its what you'll need.
Edit, if yours RHD (in Australia?), its;
A 140 830 03 13

Heres another one, with the same mechanism of filter fastening as I have;

And lastly, a full DIY with pictures;

thanks Syljua, you certainly are a wealth of knowledge.

currently I have what is in #12 picture on the above link. it has the release screws.

Are you suggesting the other end clips are purchased as a unit with the recirc panel?

when I look on the firewall where the panel should hinge I find 2 square holes, like there should be some push in type clips.

I suppose what I really need is to find another CL500 and have a look but there aren't may around in perth, not many merc wreckers with this car either.

thanks

Not following you completely here. Do not know which image is #12, but the first
one with a image of the filter cage, explicitly mentions that the screws in the
pictures does not have to be loosened?
