Excuse me Im a Newbie to this..I got a 98 c230 it has about 180k miles on it and it has been running very well. I just ran into a wiper motor issue. I have no Mechcanical experience at all. Well let me attempt to explain my issue and if anyone could offer any help, I would greatly aprreciate it. It has been raining alot lately on the WestCoast where I live.. Well I go to turn on my wipers last night and it would wipe all the way to the passenger side and just get stuck there.. It would make a sound like the motor is trying to push it back to its orginally position but will not move. :mad: Anyone has any ideas what the problem is..If it is a motor issue, how do I fix it?? Thank you

Im from the capital, Sacramento. Looking online for a new wiper motor gonna cost about 130 $ without the shipping. Anyone has any photos or any instructions on how to take this thing off and put the new one on correctly? Thanks:D

Look into that for more info if it fits your situation. They did find a supplier of just the gear. But i believe it is just for the movement part not the transmission part.

This Link Here is about wichipong suggestion, which is what i did when my wiper started to hesitate. I always do this once a year right before winter. Its very easy to do.
The only think i did differently was that after adding the grease I turned on the wiper as it was with the cover off and worked the grease in and then applied some more turned it on again and when satisfied i put everything back together again.

oh and do stick with the white lithium grease it's much better

your gears are stripped. i had the same issue. it's not difficult, just takes a long time - if it's your first attempt. here's what i suggest you do:

first buy a 6 pack. open your hood (make it upright). remove the cowling (the black shroud that keeps the leaves). remove the trim around the wiper assembly.

now, here's the hardest part of the job. there's more cowling behind the engine. you have to remove both of them (one on each side) to fully gain access to the bolts to free the motor. they are held in by rivets and are extremely difficult to gain access to if you dont have the right tools. it can be done with a screwdriver and some creativity. this is where the beers come in.

once you have removed the cowling, you have gained access to the 10mm bolts that hold the wiper assembly. remove these. your new motor will come with its own lead that has to be plugged in underneath the fuse box. so guess what, you have to remove the top of the fuse box. there you can find screws holding it in place. remove them and lift up the top of the fuse carefully.

the motor has to be freed from the assembly itself. after you do that, mate your new motor to it in the same manner. installation is self explanatory at this point, but before you fully torque all the nuts and bolts, make sure that the wiper parks correctly.

it seems daunting at first, but all it takes is time. if you have time to kill, its pretty safe for anyone to do. if you dont mind paying an indy 5 hrs of labor to do it, then feel free.
