Hey guys,

Im looking at a car listed for sale a 97 c280, but WONT GO ABOVE 1400 RPMS Any ideas on this issue.

Other than that the car starts fine and idles, perfect and you can step on the pedal fine but wont go above 1400 RPMS ...

Any thoughts... Is it worth it.

Thanks

That depends on how much? and how deep your wallet is.
If your really interested in this car take it to a mechanic for inspection. If the owner will not let you do that then exit stage left.
From the limited ammount of info given so far it could be a torque converter/tranny issue or something else at this point. Has the owner given you any service info? If there is none you may want to consider finding another car.
Here is some basic info on the TC
Torque Converter Service, Larry Carley, Brake & Front End, September 2000
Good luck on your search, B
