hey folks

ive been having some problems with my 1996 e230(w210). the engine turns over ok but does not fire up. ive had the AA out to have a look at it and they said that the engine wasnt getting any fuel and no power was getting to the fuel pump.

i checked all the fuses and changed the relay control unit, but still no avail. does anyone have any ideas on this. also i was just wondering if the relay unit has to be coded to the car as i got it as a second hand working part off ebay?

thanks for your time folks

I don't think the fuel pump relay has to be coded and also you have partly answered your own question. If there is no power going to the fuel pump then it can't possibly deliver fuel to the injectors.

First off, are you sure the relay control unit is good? There has to be some way to test it with a meter. Second, fuses need to be checked with a meter too, they don't always look bad. Third, could any wires to the pump have been disconnected or the connections become loose?

My answers are just shots in the dark but to me they all seem logical.
