my 95 sl320 only has 25,700 miles on it and everything works nicely. But
lately, when going over a bump strip, a rattle noise comes up from inside the instrument panel. I don't think it is serious, but then maybe something bad may be developing. I don't want to go to the dealer as for them to fix it will cost hundreds, as everything they do takes them 2 hours or so to go in and have a look/see.
Anyone know how to get inside the area? The dash cover is one large piece and intimidating. It would be nice to be able to lift it and see what the problem is. As an alternative, there may be a possibility getting in from the bottom, but I am in my 80's and not as nimble as I used to be.
Should I just forget about this and put up with the noise?
On the other hand, there may be a solution someone could suggest to me??
Thanks for any suggestions from the old man with the garage queen.

You could try to remove the instrument cluster to see whats going on, but in doing so there is always the risk that something will brake, and in particular the cluster frame. There are videos available on the forum showing how to remove the cluster; if you search for "instrument cluster" I believe you should find something. If not, send me an email and I will email you back the video.
