Hello. When my car shifts down while slowing, then accellerate, their is a slight hesitation - like the car is in neutral for a split-second, then goes into gear. The trans shifts fine going up through the gears. If you come to a complete stop, then the trans shifts normal. It seems to be some sort of "kickdown" problem. The "Check Engine" light is on & the code reads "upshift delay valve" (on trans).

Check the vacuum modulator on the side of the transmission - by pulling the vacuum line to it & applying vacuum to see if it holds. Mine was bad and exhibited flaring in the transmission on upshifts.

when was your trans serviced last? I would start there and once that is done adjust the mod till she's shifting more appropriately.

The UDV is for when the car is cold..thus not of major concern.

Hello Guy's! Thanks for the responses. I had the trans serviced (fluid/filter) two months ago. I'll have the modulator replaced with the upshift delay valve & let you know how it worked out.

Bruce what was the outcome and solution for this? i have a similar problem where the transmission slips. i also have a vacuum problem and was wondering if there is any relation between the two.
