This last year I have had an annoying fault whereby as I approach a stop street of traffic circle the engine of my automatic car will stall. I notice that the idle speed of the engine is a little on the low side, sometimes below 500 rpm.

Question. Is there an adjustment for idle speed on the multivalve E220 engine?

Once again thanks for your input.

I take it that error codes are when on diagnostics. I don't think that this car has ever been connected to a computer since it was new. Unfortunately this car has had a chequered past. When it was quite new it was stolen in Johannesburg and recovered in a "Chop Shop" in pieces. The car was put back together with all the chassis and engine numbers removed and given new ones by the police. The instrument binnacle is from an earlier 230E so the speedometer reads incorrectly, about 15% slow.

I have owned the car now for 11 years and it owes me nothing as it just keeps on going with regular services, but not by a Merc stealership. Unfortunately at its age, it is not worth spending loads of money on, but it would be nice to get these two faults rectified.

Roger.
