92 400e Lights dimming, poor idle , voltage regulator?

Changed upper harnesses, lower harness. Ate my last battery, 14.5 volts measured at battery. surging when slowing down. Any ideas? Thanks

Has the voltage regulator ever been replaced???

On a V8 W124, 14.5V should be OK but anything beyond 15V is too high IMO.

Suggest you replace the regulator with a new Bosch unit. They're inexpensive insurance.
