Very nice car...one of these days(probably in 2 years) I'll attempt at importing a 300hp 560SEC or an AMG variant. Such hot looking cars!

How complicated is it? Or is it just a cost thing to get it up to US spec only to want to bring it back to Euro spec?

Maybe have a word with Bondavi...he looked at bringing mine in this year and found it tough in Cali - it's mostly the smog gear and 5mph bumpers, km/h speedo etc.

Much easier when they are 25+

I'm getting more info today from the owner - will share that soon as I get it.

I have been looking for a 560 SEC and live in MN which does not seem too bad in terms of bringing one in. I even went to houston hoping to drive one home this weekend. How much harder is it to find parts for a Euro and is it all parts or certain types that are more difficult.

I will start re(search)ing but appreciate any info.

Parts as close as your friendly local dealer. At least that's my experience. Febi stuff at my local NAPA.

No harder to work on than my old 450SL, in most ways easier.

I will tell you if it makes sense financially get one. I own one with the 822 motor and it is like nothing you have driven. Now that I have driven 500's and 560 US SEC I don't know if I could go back after driving this. As you already probably know a well kept w126 is a solid as they come but slap that motor in there it is not only solid but is a true performance machine. There are not many cars that will beat this thing leaving a light and merging onto the freeway (new or old).

Thanks for the reply. I have researched bringing one in and now understand the 25+ comment. Do the Euro's in Canada generally not have the CMVSS stickers because that would help overcome the DOT safety piece?

DBMB really happy to hear that because I have been very impresed even with US versions. Especially happy to hear how much you love yours after seeing some of your recent posts. When I am in the middle of projects sometimes I lose sight of how much I love these cars.
