88 190e 2.3 8v motor. Bought the car recently and had a couple massive vacuum leaks one at the hose to the breather to valve cover and one near the cold start solenoid where the hose "Y"s to the ICV. I replaced everything with new heater hose and new fittings. Now I have a huge amount of vacuum that comes thew the breather hose that plugs into the bottom of the air cleaner, unless I manually put a restriction in this hose(used a valve stem with no guts) it will not idle just start and stall. Is there pieces missing that wernt there and I didnt replace?? Car had this issue when I bought it...NOW with the restriction the car still dont want to idle and sometime will idle at 2300. The ICV is working properly and was cleaned, valve moves correctly both ways and have correct Voltage going in and it Ohm'd in spec.

I loaded a pic(hard to see), I replaced what was there so maybe there was something missing

Are you stating that you used heater hose instead of the preformed ICV vacuum hoses?
Here's a photo of the vacuum hose that goes from the bottom of the ICV to the bottom of the air intake boot. One end slides onto the ICV and the other end connects to a plastic nipple and goes into the boot.

As far as the restriction, yes, there is a plastic connector with a built in restriction that splices 2 hoses and has a nipple on the side that the Fuel Pressure Regulator plugs into.

No!! that hose is in great shape. I also checked the bottom rubber boot where that hose connects to and also in good shape. I only replaced the top hose of the ICV to the "y" at the intake by the cold start solenoid and from there to the breather hose that "t's" at the side of the valve cover. And the hose from valve cover to the air cleaner has the vacuum line port molded into the hose for the fuel pressure regulator, but I get alot of vacuum at the breather where it attaches to the bottom of the air cleaner and if I dont restrict that hose end it will not idle

OK...did you check the plastic T connector next to the valve cove to make sure the restrictor is there.
When my engine is running with the air cleaner off and the vacuum hose disconnected, it has very little vacuum.

I now transfered the restrictor over and its back to normal. I got that new breather hose and it had a seperate line off the side for the fuel regulator so I didnt put the "t" restrictor in and just looking at it I didnt relize what it was. So now id say that problem is fixed!!

THANKS GUYS:D
