I wonder if anyone would have ideas on our 1988 300ce (straight six) that has taken to severe hesitation when backing off from highway speed (65-70) and then trying to reapply some gas to get back to speed. It now happens consistently. If the gas is ‘punched’ a few times it will power back-up. Today I was forced to essentially pull off and coax it back to life. This is dangerous on the road and causing sever brain cramps under the shade tree.

Changed the gas filter twice, fuel pressure reg, drained and clean tank, and even swapped the pumps with spares we had on the shelve. Any ideas are aprreciated. thanks Ryan

sounds like your mixture is a little rich. How's the O2 sensor? When was it last changed?
