My '85 SD300 began having intermittent instrument cluster function. Prior to this, only problem was occasional blowing of AC fuse. Car used to run incredibly well (120mph) with strong turbo boost (almost head snapping). Guages eventually all went inop. Turbo followed. I can hear it winding up. A mechanic told me it's working (but no boost). Car starts quite easily, but runs like a dog. Guess I got spoiled. One last thing. After the turbo quit, the few times I drove it more than five miles or so, it would cut off. If I waited a little while (20 minutes maybe), it would start up again and seem to be fine for a while (maybe another five or so miles). I have heard that the dash electrics can be cured by resoldering. If true, how do I remove the dash? I have replaced the two fuel filters. Any suggestions? Mark.
