Just purchased an '85 300d for $900.00.....Texas car-zero rust.....runs-drives-lic-inspected.....clear coat is peeling on hood but rest of paint is perfect....interior is imac. except for crack in dash.....everything works except rear pass. window.....can hear motor but window wont go up or down.....havent had time to look at it yet.
Yes......it was a buy of a lifetime.
I prev. owned a '83 300SD and loved it but never got to "mod" or play with it.....wifey didntlike it...too big and too old in her opinion. So...I sold it. Not this time. The 300d is a keeper.
I would also like some advise on what I should look at first for maintenance...oil change & filter, fuel filters, cooling flush, etc is standard....but are there any "tricks of the trade" so to speak?
Also...What are these "spring modifications (lengthen to 27mm) I am reading about? Is this in the injector pump or ? What kind of performance gain do you get? What other performance "tricks" are there that wont effect reliability?
I am looking to upgrade the wheels and tires. Please post any pics of upgraded wheel/ tire combos....and please list the size of the wheel and tires.
Thank you in advance for your time and attention while assisting a "newbie" to this forum.
