Hello All-
After reading alot of the forums I have a few specific questions. First a brief back story: bought the car last summer and it ran fine all summer long. I had to leave the country and my brother drove it a bit in the winter.
The car died one day when it was cold (dead battery).
I charged the battery and it is cranking really well but no catch at all. Since it is about 70 degrees and I have plugged in the block heater I think the glow plugs shouldn't be an issue right?

I filled it up with diesel and tried to use the hand pump and diesel leaks out of the base of it, should it do that? I can hear a strange squeaking sound in the tube when I operate the pump. My shop manual is characteristically cryptic about the exact pump operation.

My worry is that I am not getting compression but I think that just sitting there for several months would
not produce that when it was trouble free before.

Thanks in advance to everyone, I hope I can figure out my big brown tank.

You need to replace the hand pump, it’s allowing air into the fuel system.

Order a new pump from one of the online stores line Mercedessource. I believe there’s a write up of the procedure in the DIY thread.
