Hello all, I am in need of some serious help!! I have been restoring an 66 230S and have an issue with it running. It will start and idle beautifully, but after I drive it for approx 2-3 miles it dies! It will start right backup, but will die when put into gear. I have had the Zenith carbs rebuilt (but I think this is where the problem lies), and have replaced all ignition components. Please HELP!!:confused:

It's a long shot, but it could be a fuel filter. My buddy had a similar problem.
It would run for a while, then stall. After sitting a few minutes, enough crud must have fallen from the filter to allow fuel to flow again for a few more miles until it clogged again and stalled.
Good Luck,
Klaus

Also check the screen in the tank. It's on the bottom of the tank in the middle and has a large hex hole in it. Get a new one from the dealer, two nuts and a bolt to fit.
