639 vito Coolant tank pressurising

Hi all
The expansansion tank on my 2005 vito 115cdi seems to be pressurising as it loses coolant, but only on a long run, and its definately out of the overflow.
My first instinct and worse case scanario is the head gasket but so far I have no water in the oil or oil in the water and no overheating or white smoke on first start up.
Also it doesn't need much to top up the tank maybe less than a litre each time, vito has just done 130k miles.
Guess I already know the answer but has anyone got any other theory's or experience of this with the newer shape vito?
Any positive help would certainly be appreciated

before you go for the complex, expensive or doom and gloom reasons........ have you tried a new pressure cap?

Cap springs weaken, allowing water to boil out of the overflow........... its ALWAYs been a problem in all sorts of vehicles and is a lot cheaper to replace than most of the other suspects.
back when I were a lad...................... (end of 4 yorkshiremen sketch)

I worked in a garage afterschool and holidays, it was amazing how many radiator caps we sold........... they aren't the most reliable of things but these days we tend to forget the simple things.

I enjoyed that job AND delivering papers for WH Smith before going to school (I started at 3.45am)

Pity I lost the garage job when I appeared on the news at the Isle of Wight festival.......... it was only then that they realised I was one of them new fangled hippies.

hope the cap is all it needs.
