I recently purchased a 1987 560sl. I removed the parking brakes to make sure they would work when needed rotors and calipers were fine. When I went to reinstall the rear rotors the parking E-brake rotor wouldn't go back on. I readjusted the brake to the min. the rotor went on but required gentle persuasion when it did go on the rotor went backward but locked up going forward. Can someone help?

There are two places to adjust on the 560SL. One adjusts the breaks the other adjusts the cable tension. Breaks are adjusted with the wheels off through a port in the hubs. Cable tension must be loose when doing this. Cable is adjusted above the muffler. Exhaust must be removed to adjust this. With breaks adjusted properly adjust cable until the break pedal gets about 2 to 4 clicks.

I really appreciate all the help from all of you. The solution to my problem was as simple as installing the small spring by the adjustor. Instead of installing it from the front, I remembered one video ( out of many other videos ) that advised that the spring had to be installed from behind the brake shoes. Once I did that the the rotor went on as it should with a little adjustment of course. Once again thank all of you/
