I have recently purchased an '86 560SL. Its original cloth top is in what appears to be perfect condition, showing no wear. Having never had a car with a cloth convertible top before (I had several vinyl ones), I am surprised to see how saturated the cloth top gets when it rains. It does not leak into the car, but the cloth seems to get extremely wet. Is there a dressing I am supposed to use to increase waterproofing, or, is this normal for a cloth top. I don't want the top to suddenly start pouring water into the car in the middle of a rainstorm. I realize this may sound dumb, but I'm new at this. Thanks.
