560sl instrument pod removal, does it just pull out like on the 129, or is the pod bolted in, i need to remove it to replace bulbs<br> <br> help please<br> <br> thanx sam uk

Sam,<br> <br> The instrument cluster is held in cutout by means of a rubber profile strip. For pulling out the intrument cluster, the instrument panel can be slightly raised above cluster or pushed out from below. To prevent any damage of front frame, do not force out instrument cluster by means of a screwdriver or the like.<br> <br> Removal:- 1. Remove steering wheel, 2. pull out instrument cluster as far as possible, loosen tachometer shaft, the two electric plug connections and the oil pressure line, then remove instrument cluster.

Sam<br> <br> There is not screws holding the inst-panel. The only screws to be removed are those on the cover on the footwell if you wish to remove it to assist from below. (Mark the steering wheel in relation to the spindle shaft before removing).
