Can anybody tell me what size the factory wheels/tires are on a 1989 560SEL?

My 560SEL has crummy aftermarket wheels, and I want to change them -- either to original factory or maybe something else less ugly! Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Chris

These are my favorite Wheels for a W126:

* 8x16 ET34 8-hole (from 129 SL). I had this on my 1986 300SE together with 225/55 tires and it looked really good, and the tire size is a good combination of comfort and handling.

* 8x16 ET34 (?) 15-spoke (from 129 SL). I like these wheels because they look similar to the original wheels, but one inch taller and some more depth.

* 16-inch Lorinser "deep-dish". Similar design as the Mercedes 15-spoke wheels but I think they have a nicer finish t o them. Picture shows the 9x16 ET11 which can be fitted in the rear, front needs 8x16 (don’t know the offset) but I would prefer the 8x16 all around because it looks better on a Sedan.

* 7x15 ET25 (original Fuchs) or ET23 (ATS replicas) "Bundt". Same wheels as original pre-86 S-class but 15 inch instead of 14. Could be difficult to find in USA, but ATS replicas are quite often for sale on German eBay. These wheels look very good on a pre 86 S-class, but they might look a bit too old fashioned for the face lifted 1986+ cars.

Did you have to use spacers when you mounted these on your W126? Also which lug bolts did you use on the W126 with these wheels?

Thanks
