Dear all

I have MB W126 560SEL model 1990 japanies version.
The mechanic who replaced valve seal made me crazy when he informed me that the engine is not starting due to damaged EZL.

I was searching this site for a solution and reading most the posts abbout the EZL.

One of the users was asking if M119 EZL fits M117 and here comes the idea to me.

I have EPC 2008.10 and was deeply looking at all the EZL's fits the 560SEL . Europe , north america and japan versions.

I listed all the 126 and 140 EZL's and then sort them according to groups and replacment numbers.

I listed my match in excel format. I hope the our experts at the site have a deep look to what i did and if kindly they could say after all that my idiea was on its place.

I hope that i did the right way , if not please accept my apology .

Thanks and waiting for your kind replies

Waleed Kullab

Your running the Euro 560HV (high compression 10:1) 8 pinEZL with the 3 pin knock sensors cable.
These are the most expensive and hard to source EZL's for the 560HV.
Second hand cost on German Ebay etc runs around Euro 600.
New very expensive.
I am pretty sure you will need to source the same matching EZL part # for your engine to run correctly.

Thanks for rply

Will i think the problem startes when they puuled the engine to change valve , headgaskit and rear oil seal.

The crankshaft sensor was old and it was broken . the mechanic asked me for replacement. then the engine starts but cuts and stops after short time.

He connected onther EZL but not the same number and the engine rus. But still not sure if the cranckshaft sensore he installed is the correct one.

I can not read the part number of old sensore but i noticed that the size of the lens at the old sensore is bigger than the one he puts. I kept looking till i found the same lens size but its plastic sensor and my old one is metal.

Could this drives the engine to stop after running?

here are the pics of the old broken sensore and the new one.

hents99 How much are you asking for this part.

Also i share 420SE that they are interchangeable despite their part number.

Thanks guys

the list is wrong, as it has some 4 pin EZL numbers on it.

What I have been told is all the eight pin are interchangeable as long as they are V8 W126 EZL.

Some one told me that some W140 8-pin EZL can work on W126 but you need to find the correct number. So when i looked into EPC i could not find if they are 4 or pin. but i matched the numbers and the replaced numbers of W126 with all W126 and W140 V8 engines.

According to the search i foung that some of the W140 V8 and V12 matches the replaced numbers on EPC.

I found this W140 V12 S600 car with daul EZL 8-Pin BOSCH 0 227 400 020 MB 013 545 70 32 and dual crankshaft sensores installed to the right and left fenders.

Do you think it worth to tri one of them , Iam only worried about the electrical parts might effected or damaged.

Yours being a 1990 Japanese spec 560SEL it would no doubt be fully optioned and using the high compression (10:1comp) most powerful of the 5.6litre engine options (for countries with higher octane fuel available)

Have a read of this very informative link below which which is well presented

Sorry, yours is an SEL so have a read of this link

I have a euro 1990 560 as well. I have three ezl's, one doesn't start the car, the other works but gives very advanced timing, too much for idle, and one that works just right. So just because your ezl works doesn't mean the timing is OK. Check it.
