Looking for some information from members in the US....how much would you guys pay for a W124 500E with @ 100,000 miles and full service history?

Just interested to see what prices the 500E's go for in the US.

Am I also right in thinking that they were never sold in the US when they were new and if so, are there problems with importing them into the US?

Many thanks

they were sold here. I looked at one (92) six months ago with no service history and 150k miles. A California car. I think they wanted $18,000 so your example would be north of $20k.

They weren't sold here in '91, when they first sold in Europe. Only '92, '93, '94. A '92 with 100K miles in good condition can be found for 16-18K. A '94 with 100K in good condition is closer to 22K.

Were the photos taken in a used car lot?.....there's a lot of other Mercs surrounding it. I quite like the SEC on the left

That's true they were taken in a used car lot.
That 560 SEC is a 1992 AMG but the engine and the gear box are not in a good condition.

There were also a golden E55 AMG 1992 available I didn't buy it for the same reason [:(] . At the moment I am looking for an E55 or E50 AMG (1992 or 1993) in a good mechanical condition to replace it with my E500. Used cars in UAE are much cheaper than anywhere else [:D]

Dear member,

Is there a 1992/1993 E50/E55? Is that W124 or W210? The W210 (round lights!) started in 1998 but im not sure there may have been E50/E55 AMG W124 (Not that I know of!) Please advise.

Regards
Mo

E55's only relate to the W210.

The only AMG's versions of the E500 W124 were E60's as far as I'm aware......ie; the 5.0 litre bored out to 6.0 litres

I am starting to see 92 cars with 100k-150K miles in the $12-15000 range outside of California. As they get closer to 150-200000 miles they are heading down to $10,000 and staying there.

Note that there is one on EBAY right now with 149000 miles on it from FLA that has FEWER miles than it had the last time is was on Ebay so watch out. That car has a rough history [VIN ends in 7171] and has been passed from dealer to dealer and auction to auction.

Two trains of thought: First get the best one you can find and spend $20K+. That will get a very nice car with sub 100,000 miles but it still is 13 years old and some parts [wiring harness] will be starting to fail. Second train of thought is get a higher mileage car for $12K and spend $8K building up the subsystems that need work as they need them. I subscribe to the second train of thought because I KNOW what has been done to the car and what to expect of it. I insure that the body is sound [no wrecks] and go from there. 500E's are like early 70's 911 Porsche's, when you find one and sort it out you will NEVER sell it. IT is just that good.

Yes you are correct, there were no E55's in the W124 models, but who ever in this world owns an E60 amg is one lucky person, how I only wish I could find one.
