It seems that it might be cheaper for me to purchase a 5.5L shortblock and possibly a complete 5.5L engine(has a bad piston) with over 100k on it to swap into my 430. I will use the heads and timing cover, oil pan etc off the high mileage engine and slam it all on the low mileage block. I have never done a mercedes complete overhaul or swap so I want to make sure I have everything correct, specifically the little mercedes techniques I hear about that people who are not certified miss and are very important. Is there anyone who is knowledgeable in this field that is willing provide tech support to a fellow Benzworld member and manuals for assembling and timing a 5.5L amg non K engine, Thanks

My hats off to you. I get where you're going with this swap. Be patient, its not rocket science. If you're using parts from more than one engine its a good idea to disassemble everything and verify conditions. Start from a solid base within specs.
If you don't mind me asking how much did you budget ?

5 grand

My budget is under 5 grand, which after my research and me doing alot of the labor is very feasable. I have found short blocks with around 50,000 miles ranging from $1,500 to $2,500 and long blocks with around 50,000 miles ranging from $2,500 to $3,500. I will use the accessories from my 4.3L which only has 36,000 miles on it. My HPS supercharger has an intake manifold incorporated into it. I have already confirmed that I can reuse my 4.3L ECU and get it DYNO tuned for under $800.00. With some patience and smart shopping and help from fellow members, I can do this.

I just want to make sure it is done to OEM specs and standards and thats where other people like you come in. I am very mechanically inclined and good with my hands. I have a 90 Jeep wrangler with a 350 SBC so I can turn wrenches.

That video is better than Porn, WUNDERBAR!

I admire anyone who sets a higher goal and plans way ahead towards a better outcome. Touche'
Be very careful about the tune setup. Not alot of supercharger shops know MB and no Benz shops know a correct aftermarket supercharger tune. It takes a unique shop to understand the two together. A smart bet would be to access a Kleeman or AMG compressor ECU for a good baseline to custom tune off of. Good Luck!

LET/Eurochargerd Performance

I actually am going to have Jerry who was the original owner of LET Motorsports dyno tune my car. He partnered up with Eurocharged Performance. He has done many successful tunes and actually a few tunes related to my exact swap so I am very confident I will be in good hands.
