Just to review... my 91 4matic transfer case was leaking hydraulic fluid into the case. I've turned the 4matic off and changed the case fluid a few weeks ago. Thought I would change again to be sure the ATF was clean. This time I noticed metal flakes in the bottom of the drain container. The magnet drain plug was clean. Is this normal or am I heading for a major problem in the future? When I changed the fluid the first time it was so contaminated that I didn't see any metal flakes. Is this normal clutch disc wear? Planning a 5,000 mile trip in 6 weeks. Should I be concerned?[:(]
