There is a 450SL on eBay claiming to be a 1977, but based on what is under the hood and the lights and bumper it must be a 1973. Is there somewhere to run the VIN to tell for sure? 107044-12-012500  This is the bright yellow 450SL with euro lights and bumper.

Factors confirming it is a euro for me are the lack of a code ~491-494 for US Model or California model on the build plate.

And also the lack of the narrower license plate nuts for US plates:

Euro cars are often given the wrong year or the year they are imported to the US, which would explain the 1977 maybe.

Says so in the listing. It was also repainted, as is obvious from the build up around the data plate under the hood and the corrosion on the door plate

The car is a great 20 footer. The color looks really good, it is just too good for a car that old

Yes, but the reason it says so on eBay now is all the info the forum provided, plus the fact that I sent the VIN to MB Classics and they confirmed a 1973 build.
