Hi all. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction with the current issue I'm having with my 78' 450 SLC. The problem is in the morning when the car is started for the first time. The car is very slow to up shift. It engages into drive right away but will not shift for the first time until I've gone about 10 blocks. Once it does shift however it shifts pefect the remainder of the day. The fluid looks good so I'm hoping a fluid/filter change will solve the problem unless someone here knows better. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Get it power flushed along with a new filter.

Mine did the same for quite a while, then gradually worsened, until finally the front pump failed. Not saying that's what your problem is.

Morning sickness is usually a sign of a failing front pump. - sorry

Well I'll start saving for the day when it finally goes. Anyone thats suffered thru this have an idea what the front pump change will run me? Just curious as this car has already cost me one arm and part of a leg.

May be worth just getting a replacement gearbox from a slavage yard, ebay etc.
