Hello all,

I'm the recent owner of 1962 404.114 that is in need of a replacement or reconditioned starter.

I am wondering if any remanufacturer can handle the 24 volt starter and if anyone has any thoughts on whether the unit should simply be replaced?

Is this, or anything else from the unimog, similar to commercial vehicles from MB of similar vintage?

Lastly, does anyone know of a remanufacturer in eastern PA, Delaware or Jersey?

Thanks in advance for the help.

[:)] I have a starter in good condition in my basement. Bought it on Ebay Germany at EUR 67,00. If you pay the shipping costs I can mail it to you. Just drop me a line on email.

There's a shop here in philadelphia that should be able to handle it.

If they can't do it try Greg at Ampere Electric, He can rewind and turn armatures, his shop is like stepping into the 40's. It's good living in the center of the industrial revolution, there are lots of 3rd and 4th generation shops like these around.

Thanks for the info Seth, Pryor rebuilt the starter in 24 hours and was cheaper than the 3 other joints I checked.
