Did somebody ever heard about unimog u1200 with four wheel crab steering system.There is 2 snow blower unimogs 424 on next bar none auction equiped with this system??

My point was the 4 wheel crab steering : Does somebody ever drive one ?? Any picture of the steering system?? custom build by Schmidt or original MB?? any other mog with this steering system wath kind of suspension in the rear ???........

I am very happy to know that you bid on it but my goal was to take some info about the system

The crab steer would be the same type of setup you would find on a rock buggy except instead of offering funky traction vectoring it is used to provide the truck with near zero turn radii. Moving slowing it will pivot about center thus avoiding dragging the attachment through deep snow or having to pull of a turn that looks like a spirograph drawing.

From the pictures on the auction, it looks like the front overhang and rear overhang are almost equal with respect to the axle center lines.

The system is probably a complete front steer axle with the PS gear plumbed backwards so the rear steers opposite. I can't see too much need to steer in sympathy on a working truck versus a buggy.

I have to say 4 wheel steer is kind of cool looking.... makes you go WT? :) But honestly Im glad I don't have that option... seems like another thing I might have to fix :( I wouldn't turn it down but it deffenatly isn't on the got to have list.
