i recently purchased a 1985 380sl (my first benz). it needs new seats, i found a set of seats from a 1988 560sl. will they fit? are they the same size? thank you for your help.

Yes they will interchange. In fact the 560 is a little better seat. Leather was standard. Also pretty easy to remove. Six bolts and a little maneuvering. Instructions can be found in the on line service manual. Model 107

Rowdie, would that be the case with an 84 500sl ? For some reason, I thought the 560sl seats were gen2 and all other models were gen1 seats. Therefore, not interchangeable ?

I believe the center support was higher for gen2 so gen2 will fit in gen1 but not the reverse.

The tracks and mounting are the same '82? up I think. Unsure about the first year on the mounting. I know my '84 500SL and my '86 560SL are the same. The seat backs and maybe the base are different. Side bolsters on the backs for sure.

I have a 1983 380SL and a 1986 560SL ... the seats in the 560SL are
considerably more comfortable
