Good day, all my fellow Benzo owners! I am new to this forum, although I have visited this site many times before and it had been very helpful to me- so thank all of you! I am confident someone will now also be able to assist me with my problem. I own a 1985 380 SE, which I have had for eight years now. I have not been driving it for nine months and when I attempted just that, it refused to start. After draining the petrol from the tank, replacing the fuel pump and filter and cleaning all the strainers I could find, I finally got it started. Now, it does not idle properly and runs very rough, as if not firing on all cylinders. The moment you press down on the pedal, it dies. If you press down slowly though, it pics up revs, but dies shortly afterwards.

Momentarily it runs perfect, but then the roughness starts again and the engine dies. It will not start immediately, but after a minute or two its starts again. I doubt any one of the injectors are at fault, as at times it runs perfect. I have noticed some over fueling, but my guess that happened with me trying to get it going.

Can anyone please tell me how sensitive the adjustment is on the co setting screw? I have removed the fuel distributor from the car and set the screw so the plunger opens when you only just press down on that air flap. Would that be right?

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

The plugs may have done 5000 km or so. The leads seem fine. Everything was perfect the last time I used it. The problem must be fuel related, as the car was standing for a long time. All of that old fuel is flushed out, but it could be that the old fuel left some depsits somewhere?

Lots of spark. At times it starts and momentarily runs like a dream, but then its starts running rough again. Could it be that there might be air trapped in the system somewhere?
